Clearing the Path: Launching the Kansas Expungement Assist Tool

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Kansas Expungement Assist Tool, a new self-help web application designed to guide Kansans through the process of clearing their criminal records. The tool is now live and available to the public at www.expungement.works.

For many Kansans, expungement can be life-changing—opening the door to jobs, housing, education, and stability. Yet the process has historically been complex, costly, and intimidating, often requiring a lawyer or attendance at rare expungement events. The Kansas Expungement Assist Tool transforms this experience by providing a user-friendly, guided application that helps people check their eligibility and generate court-ready forms in minutes.

The Kansas Expungement Assist Tool has been redesigned from the ground up to serve both members of the public seeking to clear their records on their own and pro bono attorneys assisting clients through clinics or legal aid programs.

CiviLaw.Tech led the development of this production-ready version, transforming the early prototype into a secure, scalable web application that incorporates an AI-powered analytics dashboard to help courts and program administrators track usage and outcomes, along with advanced auditing and security features to protect sensitive personal information. Drawing on our experience building Spongey.app - Missouri’s first comprehensive DIY expungement platform—we created a modern, accessible tool designed for real-world impact at scale.
